I could never get into shit like Letterboxed.

But, if I had to rate things out of 5, I’d treat it kinda like one of those strongly agree/disagree surveys or whatever.

1 - hate
2 - dislike
3 - middle of the road
4 - like
5 - love

 

I give too many 3s and 3.5s

 

I have stopped giving out ratings on Letterboxd. I don’t really know why.

 

I stopped letterboxd because I thought the social media aspect was overriding earnest engagement, plus I started feeling weird about how much cataloguing of myself I was doing on social media in general. But I liked to just give a heart/like with no rating for movies I liked, I cared more about whatever I wrote than the rating. I didn’t think that much about star ratings, I was very generous.

I keep a journal but I don’t rate anything.

 

I could use LB for logging movies (I use my notes app) but I’m not rating them.

 

I mainly use it for the diary/logging aspect, but if they’re letting me rate I’m rating!
I’ve found myself leaving some blank, depending on the type of film or how engaged I was with it.

 

I am going to keep talking about it in the hopes that someone else reads it, but the Coppola book is terrific if you care about film in the slightest. I am not done yet and he has not defended Victor Salva yet so I will pretend that part doesn’t happen

 

I use Letterbox to track what I own (dvd/bluray/vhs/digital/etc) and to make yearly lists as I see movies throughout the year.

I use IMDB as a way to track any movie I see.

 

Letterboxd is what you make of it. It is a great tool and it is very easy to ignore the parts you don't want to engage with.

 

I cannot wait for the day we look back at the pithy lb reviews with the same distain as the epic bacon language of the 00s. I appreciate that I can curate my feed to just be reviews from people I follow

 

I basically use it to log the movies I’ve watched. Don’t really look at what other people watch or other people’s reviews.

 

I rate but sometimes think about ditching it. Reviews really depend on the movie. But it’s more for me to see how I felt than anyone else seeing it. I’ll put in some dialogue I really loved or make a joke or sometimes give a really earnest, thorough entry. I don’t pay attention to others’ though for the most part

 

I was going to ditch giving a star rating but I don’t really leave reviews so it’s nice to have something to reference to see how I felt about a movie at the time.

 

My co worker made me start a letterboxd a few weeks ago, I don't rate anything though, just logging

What score does a post need to get a like?

 

rating doesn’t dictate whether a post gets a like or not. I like plenty of posts that would have bad ratings.
