Let the kids enjoy their Minecraft movie

 

I’ve said it before, but I think Hollywood made a mistake abandoning PG/PG-13 non-superhero movies (and I understand this is successful because of its IP). But it’s fun to be able to take my nephews to a movie that doesn’t use the word “fuck” every other word or have graphic violence.

We used to be a country, dammit!

 

My parents were pretty strict about me not seeing R rated movies in my early teens, so I lived for those PG-13 sci-fi/adventure movies, even if they were truly bad (Paycheck, Sahara, that sort of thing). I still like I, Robot though.

They don’t put many kids movies in the theatre anymore and they definitely don’t put kids movies that my son is interested in. Maybe one a year.

By no means am I a prude when it comes to language, but I hate that pretty much everything released that’s not big-budget IP is usually R or, if it’s a show, TV-MA. I can’t watch that with my younger nephews and I want to show them something new that’s at least somewhat original or creative.

It’s one of the reasons “Carry On” was fun to watch with the family - it was a dumb action movie that was a pretty soft PG-13.

 

Show Salo to your nephews. Just get them to the finish line.
