Minus his involvement in “Dopesick,” Barry Levinson lost the juice decades ago and somehow still gets work with major studios.

 

Pretty cool to see “Black Bag” at #2 at the US box office. But man, cinemas are hurting right now.

Tommy Boy Was Almost Canceled, But In The Middle Of This, Some Kids 'Heckling' Led To One Of The Movie's Most Iconic Scenes

 

Watched “The Parenting” over the weekend. Insane they got Brian Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Edie Falco and Hank from “Breaking Bad” and wasted them all on some truly lame jokes.

 

My mom really wanted to see it because of DeNiro and we were supposed to go Friday but then she saw the reviews and canceled. I didn't fight it.

 

The seniors have 40 days left so every day I am going to use a movie poster with the title of the number of days left. 40 would be easy but The 40-Year-Old Virgin would get me in trouble so I went with the Josh Harnett vehicle 40 Days and 40 Nights. Some days are much easier than others.

 

My students are taking midterms and I'm caught up on grading, so I've been watching some short experimental documentary films at my desk. This one in particular struck me. I might show it to my horror movie class

This has one of the best shots of the ocean that I've ever seen. Really great stuff here, if you have the patience.

 

I'm thinking about starting it too. I'm going to have some nights soon when I'll need to stay awake so I'm looking for something to fill the time.

 

It's pretty good so far, looking forward to enjoying it at my own pace/without having to read everyone's takes until after I'm done.
