True I mean if Robbie made it big in America years ago then maybe it would make a difference box office wise by now but Robbie himself in an interview said while he was massive the rest of the world.. his mental health and drug use was really fucking bad at the peak of his fame that he said if he made it big in the states then he probably wouldn't be alive by now so he on purpose made a conscience decision not tour or turn down any offers to work in the states and instead brought a home over there and live an close to normal life instead.

  5. I'm not really taking the A24 Thunderbolts stuff seriously and I'm not entirely sure the marketing team themselves are either

A biopic should be about whatever is most interesting, insightful, or profound about a person and their life/legacy, but music biopics usually feel like sanitized commercials for the subject.

Agreed, Martin Scorsese has been trying to get this Frank Sanitra biopic off the ground for years but the Sanitra estate have blocked him from doing it over the years due to Scorsese wanted the film to be a no holds barred, warts and all biopic but the estate have the rights to the music and they want him to make a by the numbers film and Scorsese was like nah that ain't happening

Just saw this. Can’t say I agree. I love Hollywood’s good boy Jack Quaid and this is just not my kind of movie. Thought it was pretty mediocre and I’m not sure Young Jack Nicholson can act.

I want to see the monkey man movie. I think making him a monkey was a cool and original idea. I’ve heard it was good I just didn’t care enough to see it in theaters.

I also think its a good idea but I cant watch it because its a CGI monkey. If they chose anything else I would watch it.

What do you disagree with? The number? That’s just how many critics rated it positively. Which I think makes sense.

It’s not incredible or anything. But it was a fun time. Jack can act. Almost every other thing I’ve seen him in, he comes across as a smarmy shit I want to punch. Got none of that here. Again, don’t want to oversell the movie. It was a good time and while a small crowd, we laughed a lot. That was my only real expectation and it met it.

Seeing novocaine on Thursday and just hoping for a mindlessly enjoyable movie with Hollywood’s good boy.

Ah ok! I’m more a Metacritic guy, so I guess I never quite look at what RT measures.

I liked pretty much the whole cast except for Ray Nicholson, but he’s just cannon fodder anyway. It just has this kind of “Kick-Ass” ugliness to its look and tone (minus the problematic stuff) that just rubs me the wrong way. Didn’t laugh as much I had hoped. Just wish it was a little better, but can’t get mad if people had a good time.

She was great, but she doesn’t get much to do. But she shines when she gets a chance.

It’s all good. So many people don’t know what the number means.

Oooh I thought that was a nickname for Quaid or something. Haha my bad. You know what, knowing who you’re referring to now, I kind of agree with you.

Don’t want to say too much more here.

I haven’t seen the Robbie Williams movie, but I’ve heard it’s still kind of a by the numbers biopic despite the monkey choice. If that’s the case then it sounds like more like a gimmick than an intriguing creative choice.
