I don't know if that's where i blocked them or not, but in nine years, i've only used the block feature four times, and it's usually the politics thread where i do it. Some absolutely abhorrent and awful comments in there sometimes

Studios and producers are now issuing collective social media follower casting quotas to directors, and social media follower counts of stars are now factoring into whether a film gets funding or not. Insanity.

Unfortunately. And it’s not even just for the artist. If you wanna get hired as a musician but don’t have a quality recording set up (audio AND video) you can forget it. I can be gigging every single night and someone with 100K followers playing in their basement is more attractive to musical directors and instrument companies. It’s a terrible precedent that’s been set

 

And if a song is teased on TikTok and is unsuccessful the studio is hesitant to release it it's all so fun

 

The point is if you're calling games film or TV, they are pretty objectively more like TV

 

Games are games. They are neither film nor tv, but I guess the fact that they are released as one coherent vision/story leads me to believe they are more like film. If you were forced to stop playing after every 45 mins I guess they’d be like TV

yes, but they're typically all just non-US bot accounts that don't interact with your posts or anything. so you can essentially have hundreds of thousands of followers but still only get like 2 likes on a post and still only have like 20 monthly listeners. hahaha.

If we are reviving the TV vs. movies argument, something else to consider is that all of the writers and directors brought into the show have to keep a pretty consistent visual and narrative style. There are many less chances to stand out. There are some that exist but overall a certain degree of anonymity is important. Can you imagine if you watched a show and one episode was directed by Tarantino, and then Wes Anderson, and then Sean Baker, and then John Waters?
