    This year I showed:
Clips from Nosferatu, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, various silent horror films
    Night of the Hunter
    Psycho
    Night of the Living Dead
    Texas Chainsaw Massacre
    Jaws
    Halloween
    Scream
    Pathogen
(and the accompanying documentary, Zombie Girl)

TCM and Scream were the favorites, NOTLD was the least.

Yo back in my day teachers had to give us parental permission slips to show a movie just with curses in it. High school teachers showing slasher horror movies is mind blowing to me.

Speaking of unrelated to movies but it reminded me:
The teacher i had for 6th grade English years later gave her students a crossword puzzle with "shit" and "fuck" and other curses on it as some weird esoteric lesson about the power of words, and she got fired and it became like a big local news story for a week.

They're listed in my syllabus and the principal and parents are cool with it.

Between AP gov and civics/econ, I usually end up showing some or all of my classes a BYU movie about the constitutional convention (starring the Dr. from Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Walkers as James Madison), Selma, and Too Big To Fail pretty much every year. I've also at various times for AP Gov shown Game Change (about 2008 McCain campaign/Sarah Palin choice), Recount (about the 2000 election), and maybe one or two documentary style movies. Now that were post-exam, we watched Heavyweights last week since most of my class was out for senior cut day, and now today and Thrusday we're watching National Treasure because this generation seems somewhat obsessed with it and in their mind it makes sense for AP Gov lol

I showed Selma a few times but the kids never enjoyed it much.

Yeah it kind of depends if I have time, but usually at a minimum during our unit on civic particiaption I'll show them the clip of the first march and the clip from the Butler showing the lunch counter sit ins. They're 9th graders so the rest of Selma can be up and down in terms of keeping their attention, but the scene with the march always gets their attention

I hope you tell your students that Spacey's character ended up becoming Biden's chief of staff when he was elected POTUS.

Another good one to show them would be Game Change, about the 2008 election. Specifically about the McCain campaign's process in picking Sarah Palin as their VP candidate to counter Obama's star power and how it ended up backfiring and blowing up in their face. Directed by Jay Roach, starring Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Ed Harris. Great movie.

Went to a Halloween party with my fiancée as Jr and Ice Box two years ago. I brought my own toilet paper assuming people would get the reference and instead was the freak who brought her own toilet paper to a party

No that is a quality costume and reference and you should not be ashamed.

Also I think with the movie discussion in classrooms I mentioned I showed Heavyweights the other day, maybe that was in another thread....but anyway outside of "Gen Z gets exposed to 90s comedy" hilarity, I thought it was kind of fun that they immediately recognized Keenan Thompson. The true connector of millenials and Gen z
