I'd be tempted to pick something from Inception but the opening bank robbery in The Dark Knight is probably the right answer.

 

Just from a pure practical cinematic feat standpoint I think the plane scene is about right. All the other scenes that come to mind are just carried by impressive CGI

 

I thought he said specifically opening, which, sure okay, but scene?? Wild. Even going as far back as like Memento there's a ton of iconic scenes to choose from

 

I honestly love the ending scene of Memento, but I think the opening of The Dark Knight is much better than the one from Dark Knight Rises

 

Fascinated by the thought of gen Z Barbarella discourse

 

I mean just the rotating hallway scene is a game changer

 

I thought of that one instantly but I just rewatched it today, but it's appeal to me has faded over time just because it was really cool the first time because it was so out there and now it's just not as hype

I dont think there’s anything Nolan as good as this

 

There’s probably some really intense story about shooting it or getting it all set up to run that makes it stand out to him

 

Maybe he just realllly like james bond

 

He loves Bond. He’s stolen a bunch of stuff from Bond movies for his movies and wanted to direct one at some point.

Every once in a while something like Monty Python and the Holy Grail can be a good barometer of what students are going to be fun to talk to throughout the year.
