I once saw a "Jazz student reviews Whiplash" video and the main gripe the guy had was "college Jazz majors in their nearly 20's don't really listen to or have that much interest old 40's/50's jazz artists outside of class. Most are mainly into modern jazz/hip hop fusion stuff. The fact that he is obsessed with Buddy Rich is really weird "
