Gonna give it the old college try again, eh Hollywood?

 

God I love Jim Henson and The Muppets so goddamn much.

When people talk about iconic creators that are credited with basically melding the cultural consciousness of kids who grew up in late 20th century America ( Walt Disney, Stan Lee, George Lucas, Spielberg, ect), I think Henson and Fred Rogers were the two purest of all of them.

 

The muppets are creepy.

I was a big A Muppets Christmas Carol kid. Still a holiday classic.

 

rizzo and gonzo as the narrators, simply the best

 

I heard someone describe Muppet Christmas Carol as more a Christmas classic you have on than one you watch and that’s really it for me. The idea is amazing, the mood is great, and it’s hilarious in the beginning, but my attention wanders every time

my favorite part is when everyone is talking over each other and then when they stop, Janice is still talking “I said ‘look mother, it’s my life, oookey? So if I wanna live on a beach and walk around naked’

 

Nick Jr in the early 90's used to show the OG Muppet Show and Muppet Babies back to back daily and that was my absolute jam as a little kid.

 

Also the 2011 Muppets Movie with Jason Segel absolutely ruled and it sucks it has been kind of forgotten about

 

Gus Fring and Ben Wyatt are the first two I thought of.

Never watched It’s Always Sunny so I didn’t realize Devito was a later addition.

 

Janice from the Sopranos is definitely up there. Livia couldn't realistically show up in a lot of scenarios so Janice is a great foil for Tony.

Saul and Mike are the best characters outside of Walt in Breaking Bad.

Newman in Seinfeld. Frank Costanza as well.

Half of Veep.

The Wire is sort of cheating since the show changes focus every scene, but Marlo and Carcetti and Michael and Snoop and so many others are essential to the show.

Megan and Ginsburg and Stan add a freshness in Mad Men to match their new modern office.

Windom Earle really revives the second season of Twin Peaks when it was really starting to become a chore.

 

Leon really changes the show but Marty Funkhauser was great too.
