Just got back from a 10th anniversary screening of Interstellar at my local theater. Movie still bangs. Was happy to see it was a pretty full theater too.

I watched a wide variety of 21st century Harrison Ford misfires recently. Of which there are many

Hollywood Homicide sucks in an incompetent filmmaking way. Harrison Ford is miscast

42 is sentimental for an artificial America, but it was a good MOVIE movie, the kinda movie about which a geezer would say “they dont make em like that anymore”

Firewall is pretty good! Absolutely nothing new, but it looks expensive and it scratched the popcorn movie itch

I remember liking Sabrina as a kid, but it wasn’t working at all this go around. Harrison Ford says he was wrong for the part. He was

K-19: The Widowmaker is a pretty strong movie as far as movies about men’s trust issues go. Harrison Ford speaks in a very distracting half russian accent, half Harrison Ford normal voice. Liam Neeson talks Irish. Not really the kind of movie I often wanna see, but it has visual style and it’s moving in its own way.

Cowboys & Aliens is like…ok cowboys are coolish but often dumb, but aliens rule how do you make aliens boring!?

Morning Glory is a breezy 2 1/2 stars. I don’t think Harrison Ford does antagonism well. He’s good at being a hero you like despite how cranky he is, but I just can’t buy villainy in his eyes

That said, The Mosquito Coast is a very very good Harrison Ford performance. He plays an aggrieved white American, and he finds a lot of authentic detail in the guy. Judging by his personal life, I imagine the character felt a bit like his opposite number, but he’s never doing parody. The movie is pretty good, Peter Weir’s usual un-Hollywood style, and it’s a Schrader script. Helen Mirren is underused, but it’s really worth a watch for Harrison Ford

 

all I really remember about Firewall is that Chloe from 24 (I’m blanking on her now) was in it and basically just played Chloe from 24 in the movie. I was super into 24 at the time.
