Daisy Ridley's first big post-Star Wars movie . Inspirational Disney drama about the first woman to successfully swim across the English Channel. 5/31.

I know it's preaching to the choir and beating a dead horse to bring this up in 2024, but damn everytime Conan gets renewed attention I can't help but think something went insanely wrong in the entertainment industry where Fallon is the Tonight Show host and Conan is not. Conan feels like he was destined to be to Millennials what Carson was to Boomers or what Letterman was to Gen X, and we were robbed of the full potential of that.

Idk what changed, but I feel off of Conan in recent years. He always seems very bitter and his schtick stopped working for me. He seemed more fun and goofy before losing the Tonight Show. As a teenager I watched his stint on Late Night all the time.

I don’t think he’s really that bitter. He’s more jolly than anything now.

Letterman didn't get the Tonight Show either, so the parallels are there.

Letterman and O'Brien will be remembered for a lot longer for their own comedy and for how they influenced their successors. Leno and Fallon will be rich but have far less cultural impact.

Would a young person today know who Leno is?

Maybe they wouldn’t know Conan either i dunno

I love Conan but he is more niche so I see why someone like Fallon was successful. He's very dumb and broad and appeals to a wider audience

Hauser is great but man it’s going to be tough to live up to Farley.

There are already two good documentaries about Farley and all of his work is easily available. What are we supposed to learn?

Speaking of Late Night, The Late Shift is so good and one of my favorite comfort watches. They need to do the Conan sequel.

I was lucky enough to be in the audience for one of Conan's few episodes of The Tonight Show. Heidi and Spencer were guests and the crowd was super hostile towards them, they got boo'd when they came out and laughed at when they said they wrote a book. I heard Jimmy Pardo later say that besides the Sarah Palin episode, it was the most awkward taping he'd been a part of as crowd warmup.
