Since the thing now seems to be binging old 20+ episode a season procedurals. Which one you all watching?

I've been doing 24 and Bones

  4. Not a procedural, but I’m halfway through season 1 of The Twilight Zone and it rules.

  7. I didn't see Titans but if you had asked me in 2010 how Thad Castle from the surely aged-extremely-well USA show "Blue Mountain State" would look in 15 years I think that's about right.

I only use Letterboxd to log films and house my top ten lists so I am always so confused about this subculture that supposedly exists.

  11. Film bros are so boring, no one actually gives a shit what they think are good movies. They're the kind of people who still hold a grudge against Brie Larson for daring to say their opinion on a movie that wasn't made for them doesn't matter

Film bro has become such a meaningless epithet. It used to mean "imdb users who think only Fincher and Nolan make good movies" and now has become...anyone who watches a movie not made in the U.S.?

  13. You don't think you're better than everyone else just because you've seen a lot of movies

That is who I thought the term applied to generally as well.

Goodfellas being on there is hilarious. Who doesn't like Goodfellas? Even the Marvel fans who hate Scorsese with a passion will probably admit they like Goodfellas.

  16. I think... I just hate toxic film fans who think they're better than everyone else because they have better taste in movies, and also people who complain about things being too woke just for being diverse. I'm sure there's at least some overlap there

Just follow people who post/watch interesting shit, instead of losers reciting whatever stupid thing is popular on twitter that week. “Dudes rock”. Thanks man

This is true. The negative effect of Letterboxd on film culture has been promoting (or at least making easier) a "checklist" consumptive mentality among some film fans, and especially promoting drive-by one-line quips as the mode of commentary.

The quirks of the Letterboxd crowd are vastly superior to the IMDb days. The battle for greatest film of all time was between The Dark Knight and the Shawshank Redemption.

Realistically it was always a back and forth between Shawshank and The Godfather on the Top 250, but including Coppola doesn't make the same point.

It is kind of like when each movie on IMDB had a message board attached to it. You could connect with people that saw, like, a niche terrible movie like “Spookies” when you felt like you were the only person that saw it.
