I haven’t seen that show since season 3. Is it in a spot where they can finagle their way out of this or is the show done?

Yeah I’m not sure how useful attributing innuendo’s from sitcoms that have teams of writers to him and implying that he’s the father of Jamie Lynn Spears’ child is (while making sure to get an anti-choice jab in there). But again I don’t doubt his salaciousness.

doesnt that just cause less people to go on a friday night and more on a monday? how does that help theaters make more money...it seems it would just spread out the existing crowd (or alienate people to go to regal at all, considering they dont know what the price of the movie is going to be)

i mean. people HATE surge pricing for uber.

They did that with Force Awakens, too. They are legitimately bad for film. Especially the more studios they acquire.

 

I’ve probably mentioned this ad nauseam, but when both TFW and Rogue One came out and I worked at the movies, Disney required we had it in our largest auditorium for at least four weeks. In addition to that we had to have it in two other screens for two weeks with no split showtimes. Meaning, it could only be Star Wars in that screen, nothing else. This really fucked us over cause we only had 8 screens. That means only 5 of our smaller screens were available for the rest of the features and it was beyond frustrating. For TFA it was almost merited but Rogue One had such a huge drop off and we couldn’t do anything about it

 

This is part of the problem of allowing these gigantic franchises to grow and grow while the medium-budget movies have all but disappeared. There is so much invested that the company is going to do everything it can to try and cover the budget plus marketing and everything else, and theaters depend so much on these event movies that they have no room to complain or do anything about it. They almost certainly won't hit the numbers of the 7th one so they are going to squeeze everyone else that they can.

 

i was on a bit of a nostalgia kick tonight and i came across the intro to Gargoyles

i remember as a kid not being too into it (maybe it was too dark?) but wow, how do you not watch that intro, that backstory and not say "holy shit, this show looks kick ass".

I keep thinking about trying this MoviePass thing but I go to the movies way too infrequently to make it worth it. I will go a lot in December-January because of the types of movies that come out and then I won't go for months. We have 4 dollar tickets here during the week so maybe it matters more for people who regularly pay more than ten dollars a ticket.

 

I wonder if movie theaters have ever thought of anything like tying the cost of tickets to the concession purchases. What if you got a dollar off your ticket for every five dollars spent on concessions? Given how bad Americans are at math, people would think they are losing money if they don't buy some food or soda.
