The Fall Guy looks fun. Then again, so was Bullet Train, and lots of lame people hated on it.

Times have changed. I had a teacher put on Happy Gilmore once and it was the most excitement for a classroom movie I have ever seen. Granted this was in 2007 so we all grew up watching Sandler movies.

Yeah I mostly agree with that. I understand why it has to be like that in some cases, but it does create a frustrating viewing experience. My memory continues to get shittier and it sucks when there’s decent gap between seasons and I feel like I have to rewatch previous seasons all over because I can barely remember stuff. I accept that that’s a me problem though. I don’t agree that episode count is relevant at all in the argument though personally.

The longer between seasons the greater the chance I don’t care enough by the time it comes out to watch

8-10 episode seasons being the norm bugs me, wait between seasons doesn't as much because the opposite can also be true where they have a deadline and you can tell haha

Season lengths don’t bother me. Been watching British shows for so long that I was used to very short shows before they began doing it here for streaming.

the 24-episode seasons was too much for some shows. Just a lot of fluff or dragging out things sometimes. (Not necessarily an issue for episodic comedies but dramas suffered for it)

I believe Siskel and Ebert famously hated both the Home Alone and Ninja Turtles movies.

Theres a big chance producing shows direct to streaming is not sustainable. Streaming services dont get direct revenue from comercials for air highrating shows each week so there is no incentive to invest enough money into the production of popular shows to pump out more episodes.

Commerical television has already gone through severval cycles of capitalism cutting quality and maximising view time, but with streaming profit isnt equal to view time its equal to subscriber numbers and its not yet clear which is the most effective way to maximise those. The most expensive way is to produce high quality shows in high quanity, a corperation may try this but soon must pursue increased profits by either cutting quality (hiring less writers) or quanity (why produce 10eps if people subscribe for 8)

Television has condistioned a culture of people addicted to junk food, a race to the bottom to find cheaper emptier ways to fullfill its content junkies.

This is the attitude pushing companies to get ai to pump out scripts devoid of any human expression, thought, or creativity.

I’ve definitely dropped off shows because of multi year gaps between seasons.

Though weirdly enough I don’t really mind 2-3 year gaps between movies.
