Armond White was always an eccentric, to put it mildly, but he was a great writer, although that was over a decade ago. When he liked something you liked but most people didn't there was no one better to quote, and he was one of the few willing to really go after the big prestige dramas. The problem was he started to get famous and then leaned into that personality, but then that fifteen minutes of fame dried up too. It is so weird that he writes for far-right outlets while using these academic approaches to criticism for an audience of people who are afraid of seeing gay people on screen.
