also saw Stop Making Sense last night.

I was worn out after the first couple songs just watching them play/run around the stage.

    I love James 007 Bond

  6. I haven't seen Oppenheimer, or Tenet, and I didn't like Dunkirk. Nolan himself isn't enough for me to be interested anymore. I know James Bond has always been and probably always will be a white man, but I think at the very least having side characters played by women of color (Lashana Lynch and Naomie Harris) was a step in the right direction, and I doubt Nolan will continue that.

I really want to catch Stop Making Sense one more time. I desperately want to find the joy Alex Weir finds in playing guitar with the Talking Heads.

What is this Halle Berry and Michelle Yeoh erasure?

  13. Good point, I was only thinking recently with Craig's run. But speaking of erasure, the main reason I haven't gone to see Oppenheimer is that, from what I hear, there's hardly any focus on the people of color affected by the testing or the dropping of the bomb

Well yeah because the movie’s based on a biography of Oppenheimer

  16. I actually have it on DVD but haven't felt inclined to check it out. I used to like Nolan, I still think he's one of the better filmmakers out there, but now I'm mostly just not that interested. I honestly don't know why Tenet seems to be more divisive than his work usually is

I’d add on that Nolan probably is not the best person to accurately betray the fall out on Japan.

And it’s a three hour movie and no scene is really nonessential.

Did the Broccolis loosen up a bit with Mendes? They were always steadfast against a big auteur director because they wanted control, I can't imagine Nolan giving up that much creatively.

House of Leaves, but make it an unreadable script.

One last thing about “Stop Making Sense” - it absolutely captures why they were such an original, kinetic band and also why that was their last tour.

House of Leaves was my first thought as well.

I'm into it, I see no reason to be upset at someone writing their own script how they want either, it's their art not ours

all of this is temporary Supporter

A script is more of a blueprint for a work of art than the actual artwork itself, though. A blueprint, and also a letter to their collaborators.

If the people working from that script like working from one with quirks like that, then it’s probably cool. If it isn’t conducive to the process, then it probably isn’t cool.

    Ugh, I hate America. Supporter

I've read many of Duffield's scripts and enjoyed them. This one was no different. I love this page. Where it's at in the script it works and it kept me engaged.

What I don't enjoy it people saying screenplays have to be written like X,X,X. If you engage the reader then great, do it however you can. It's hard enough to get people to read your scripts.

The tweet that started the entire debate:

Young screenwriters trying to get their scripts sold should stick to conventional screenwriting. Established screenwriters with a known style can get away with more flourishes and experimentation
