Seems clear to me. He got serenaded.

 

He is at the SLC comic con. I went up to his table and asked him about Angels in the Outfield, and then I saw a ukulele behind his table and I asked if it was his. And then he picked it up and sang a whole song to me haha.

And then not even 10 minutes later, DMC (of Run DMC, obvi) freestyled for me and like 3 other people. That was insane too.

Sag is still on strike though. I would guess no. But don’t know for sure.

 

Does anyone know the details of how union membership is determined in these entertainment fields where it's possible to be so many things at once? I'm thinking about it specifically within the context of these late night hosts, like what makes them excluded, and where is the line drawn? I genuinely don't know how it works. And it got me thinking of the broader picture of actors who are also writers/directors/producers. It seems like a clusterfuck to sort out, at least when compared to more traditional union membership where it's as simple as "This is your single job, therefore you belong to this specific union" lol

 

To join the WGA you have to meet a number of "units", different types of works is worth different "units". To join SAG you just need to get hired as a principle performer on a SAG production, or do a certain amount of background work. Lots of people are members of both. If a host is also a writer they can be a part of the WGA, they're cleared under SAG to work as hosts. It's a little murkier when it comes to hosting and WGA I believe, but the main point is the host should support the writers and follow what the union says. I may be wrong about some specifics, but that's how I understand it.
