The Jimmy Fallon ride was sort of a way to honor the NBC-Universal merger.

It replaced Twister, which was so fun. It was a "ride" where you stood there and watched a small town get destroyed by a tornado. We went there on a 5th grade field trip and when the cow flew by the computer teacher yelled hey that's Joey's mom and Joey was so mad the whole day and it is one of those things I will never forget.

Damn the computer teacher didn’t have to do Joey that dirty.

    District 9 and apartheid

Godzilla and weapons of mass destruction (I suppose the American versions aren’t really about this but it’s probably still relevant)

Wizard of Oz and populism (not new obviously, but it’s probably still timeless?)

Edit: I guess if you were teaching today this is probably too late

The Jaws and Earthquake rides scared the shit out of me as a kid. The ET is cool. It said by to me and my stuffed Barney when we exited the ride.

The newest Japanese Godzilla movies are about the collective national trauma of the Fukishama disaster, while the originals were about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I was curious I know some some studios like A24 can still film during the strikes, but for those non-AMPTP studios who made agreements with SAG that have films that are already completed before the strike and awaiting release are actors going to be able to promote those?

Nope. I think that’s the main reason Challengers and Dune 2 were pushed back.

I don't know you were being facetious about Spaceship Earth, Tetra, but that's for real my favorite thing in Disney that isn't the Haunted Mansion.

I only went to Disney once in second grade and I barely remember it. I know I loved it at the time, though.

My childhood was defined by going to Canobie Lake Park in NH :-p (or "Cannibal Lake" if you listen to my dad's Massachusetts accent). Usually multiple times a year because I was like 15 mins away and it was only like $24 to go in for the longest time

It is a great ride and perhaps more importantly the wait is never very long.

The Twister ride/experience was sweet because a tanker went flying and exploded and I remember it being so hot.

Same. As did the Terminator 2 ride/experience thing. The terminators come in and start shooting and it's loud as shit

Oh yea I know. Shin Godzilla is easily the best modern one and definitely approaches the origins and evolution from a different time period. But you could still use the modern versions of Godzilla to talk about how the original was made in the aftermath of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I loved the Terminator show but one time I was sitting in a row right where The Terminator and John Connor run through the audience and up close it was very clear John was a middle-aged woman in a wig and it ruined it.
