My most anticipated would have been Poor Things but is probably now either the new Miyazaki film if that comes here this year or Napoleon.

You ever talk yourself out of taking advantage of a deal because the percentage amount of money you'd be saving isn't worth it? There's a promo for a $5 gift card if you buy the Across the Spider-verse bluray and soundtrack at Target and, worse, there's a Target Circle bonus offer to earn $15 when you spend $90 twice and I almost fell for it. Just another evil corporation out to get your money. I'm gonna wait until the inevitable buy two get one free deal they always do every few months.

Update from Netscape: my department went from 6 market managers and 6 team leads, to 3 market managers and 2 team leads. Other departments got hit worse or were completely wiped out. Morale is non existent. General belief is that the entire company is going under and they are readying themselves to sell out bits of the company into pieces by next year.

I am working until they lay me off and give me a severance. Which is what a lot of people are doing. They want to push people out without severance at this point. Not giving them the satisfaction.

 

Really sorry you're dealing with that. As a journalist, we had a bloodbath of firings last year when the company just basically cut all the higher-paid, non-managerial staff so they could strictly hire kids from straight out of college who would accept low wages. Being in the position of watching others get fired and/or seeing your staff get significantly reduced is awful.

 

If/when you get severance and if you can afford it, give yourself a month or two to enjoy not having a job/grieve the loss of your job. For me, that really helped when someone told me that after they let me go.

 

Also I swear to god I do not want to hear " it isn't personal, it was a business decision " like that is somehow better again.

 

I was talking to my dad the other day about he is "Dopesick-pilled". Where he watched Dopesick now he is skeptical about every medication his doctor is trying push on him, and I realized after years of working for a Data company I have become " The Wire-pilled " anything to do with stats and metrics I think is horseshit.

"Turning burglaries into larcanies, making rapes disappear. You juke the stats and majors become colonels. I've been here before.

OMG someone telling the manager that laid off all the staff in our department " I feel for you so much that you had to go through that and had to do that! " was one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard in a work meeting.

 

RT for movies seems exactly like metacritic for video games. just a big black mark on the industry that everyone tries to take advantage of to their own benefit and to the detriment of consumers and workers

 

Can testify Tubi is wildly popular, even moreso than Pluto.

 

I use Tubi a lot. Maybe more than my paid subs.

 

Yeah, Tubi rules. Glad I started using it this year.

 

I personally like Pluto just because I like CBS News Live and the Star Trek channels.
