    I've basically shifted to "hear every album, watch some shows, watch no movies" haha

    I have quit television, I still like to rampage around when I can.

    I brought it up today because I assume the fast forwarders are in a similar position to how I used to be, consuming more as a habit.

    The idea of the content/commodification of art came up which television is a prime example of it. Almost all of my critics of tv are a result of it being exclusively born from corporations with profit motives

    Earlier this year I made a list of every video game I either purchased and hadn’t played, purchased and started but have yet to finish, or had started but not purchased (through subscription services) and it gave me such bad anxiety I had to reckon with what the fuck I wanted out of the medium. and so I had to accept I’ll never play or finish everything I want to. Doesn’t mean I can’t load up my backlog with games I think I’ll want to play eventually but I’m also not gonna lose sleep if some games sit on the shelf for years and years before I ever get to try them

  5. Late to the convo, but I'll add a couple that I didn't see mentioned.

    His vids are short and not always about film, but Nerdwriter is very good.

    Spikima is great. I like that his analyses always feel very unique and personal to him.

    JustWrite is also pretty good.

    It’s wild[e] to me how Olivia built up a fair amount of directing goodwill, and then immediately squandered it.

    * if it’s a bad experience

    There are definitely versions of poorly made art that can have value, depending on one’s tastes & interests. But, if it’s unpleasant enough that you gotta fast forward, then idk, maybe that shit’s just not for you, lol.

  17. i was watching a tiktok edit of some superhero shit and I just got to thinking, I totally forgot they got Anya Taylor Joy in an X-Men (sort of) movie and Cara Delevigne in a Suicide Squad movie. and like, I was so excited for Cobie Smulders and Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion but then the series was a total dud. I know a lot of y'all like to bash superhero shit but I'm sure you can relate to when there's a super cool casting but then the project is like really underwhelming and forgettable. What are some things that starred someone you like but didn't meet your expectations?

    (and Emilia Clarke was also in Solo and that also sucked!)

    Counter: Solo was good and better than it had any right to be after all the behind the scenes drama.

    Although, how he got his name was jaw droppingly awful and almost made me walk out of the theater.

    I just hope they continue to use Emilia Clarke in the MCU because she's awesome

    They definitely could have given her a cooler character though, like someone from the X-Men or something. Kitty Pryde maybe?

    Nothing worse than when they cast the guys from The Raid movies in Force Awakens and then they did nothing. No cool martial arts stuff. No cool action scenes.

    “The Idol” was absolutely terrible and I’m still glad I watched it because trainwrecks like that are so rare now.
