All those are great. I also really like Lessons From The Screen Play.

StudioBinder is also a good one, though it’s not really film analysis but more of an explainer for different shot types, techniques, etc. it’s helped me understand the basics of cinematography quite a bit.

The only time I ever watched something faster was on a rewatch. Watching something for the first time sped up is insane.

It really depends on the quality of what they are watching, one of the reasons I stopped watching television was the amount of filler.
The first step of divestment for me is to start skipping through transitions and establishing shots.

Watching anything sped up is truly deranged behavior. Let a comet hit us please.

If they don’t sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks, I’m NOT watching.

That's the thing. I don't think these people are watching Malick or David Lynch. They are in the wrong for sure but I wonder how much of this is a side effect of the blockbusters getting longer and longer.

That kind of shit is like 5 seconds long, if even that. What are you even watching things on that has you skip that little amount of time? Any time I skip back or ahead it’s always like 10-15 seconds intervals

watching or listening to anything sped up is demented. it’s a direct product of “must consume everything” culture. once you accept that as a human with a finite amount of time on this planet you will never consume every piece of media you want to life becomes a lot better. contentmaxxing is insane and bad for your health. stop doing it.

On a larger scale this is a problem with the way people are having a relationship with art. You should experience the art the way the creator intended as much as possible. It is not supposed to be a personalized experience.

Disrupting a play midway through to ask the actors if they can talk/move 1.5x faster

To be fair, everyone probably should have skipped through Quantumania.

that too at least on first experiences, I can understand (and do so myself) watching specific scenes (or in the case of music listening to songs outside of the context of an album) of a film/tv show if you’ve already seen it but even that’s not taking it the step further that manipulating the speed does

Yeah I'd consider podcasts to be a completely different thing. Speeding up (or worse, skipping through) movies is wild. TV too but I'll make a small exception if you're rewatching certain anime.

  22. If you skip the opening and ending themes while binging anime you save yourself three whole minutes per episode!!!

Regardless of that, it’s just a sign that someone seems to think the bare plot is the only reason to watch a show or movie. It’s just a fundamental misunderstanding of the mediums as forms of art and entertainment.

That is another issue as well.

It makes me wonder how they would react to some of the best and most iconic "pointless" scenes in history. Would they skip past Jules and Vincent talking about a Royale with Cheese? Do they skip Pine Barrens in The Sopranos?
