Sooo I work for a major media measurement company that that starts with an N ( not saying the name out of fear of keyword search)

Apparently there is some chaos happening. A lot of the talk I am hearing echoes everything else that is going on in media right now. People are pissed about pay, hiring and promotion freezes, pausing of merit increases, ect. Rumours of layoffs. There was a virtual townhall meeting with the CEO this morning and I guess the Q&A got pretty hostile. My friend who watched it said he came away from it thinking the company is tanking. Ill learn more when I watch the replay of the meeting later.

 

Hope your job is safe. Assuming that’s what you want.

 

I also hope your job at Netscape is secure. But seriously, I hope they don’t do anything drastic.

 

I don't think I ever understood how, uh, "Netscape" works, but from that it sounds like it's having trouble keeping up with the times, just like the rest of the industry.

My friend said they were so vague and unclear and dodging questions he doesn't even really know what happening.

i have worked at Netscape for over a decade, and honestly I don't even know really know 100% how the Netscape Ratings actually work lol.

I just work on one small part of the radio measurement side of things.

 

I thought it was Nickelodeon at first. Haha

My coworker sent me screenshots of the live chat of the town hall with our CEO. It was all people threatening to unionize.

 

" when the Wii U bombed the CEO of Nintendo cut his own pay by 50% instead of firing people, why can't you do the same? " 81 upvotes

 

i have no idea where to post this so this thread is just gonna have to bear with me for a second while i ask how we are ladyparts is not a show that we talk about on this website. it's so fucking good and it is pretty much a new favorite.

 

Peacock never advertised it and basically buried it. Really enjoyed it.

 

I don’t think I’ve even heard of it. But I do have peacock.

 

Gotta be frustrating to create and film a show and then have it disappear into the streaming ether.

" we need to think about reducing investments in certain areas"

Investments meaning people with jobs

 

So some of my non-corporate doublespeak understanding co-workers are still very confused and don't get it yet lol

 

and he's part of an acting dynasty

 

I know it's not the point, but it's also really expensive to cut paper checks like that and they do thousands and thousands a year for $0.00 or $0.01. Just more and more money wasted that could be going to pay people.
