feels like that person misses the point

comparing any company to Apple first of all is a fool's errand - Apple is the exception. they probably lose money year after year on Apple TV+

but a lot of these streamers are so tied up in the tech and wall street world that prioritizes QOQ and YOY growth that one there isn't any new content and no one is watching and those stock prices drop they'll settle immediately.

People on Tiktok are for some reason centering content creators during the actors strike telling them not to attend premieres they're invited to or promote films/shows they're paid to on their social media platforms whatsoever when for some of them that's literally their job and besides SAG hasn't said anything clearly about the issue one way or another because why would they. So there's a ton of misinformation going around about what is and isn't considered scabbing, and the wrong people are being targeted in all this misplaced outrage. Obviously no one should be taking on new contracts for writing or acting at this time, but beyond that is a contentious grey area around what people who aren't in (or aren't interested in joining) these unions are and aren't allowed to do

 

Listened to the Ringer pod with Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. He seemed to imply they got an entire strategy in place for using their most famous union members as agitprop beyond just them being on the picketlines. They have agreements in place with tons of agents and managers, and we should expect to see very famous people pop up in media promoting SAG's cause very soon.

They are not shying away from using that to their advantage at all. Good. Smart shit.
