  5. I see a lot of takes on Tiktok that villains in media, particularly in the MCU and The Legend of Korra, tend to have the right idea but just take things way too far into the extreme, and then it's the hero's job to take them down to prevent further death and destruction, without really tackling in any meaningful way the implication that maybe the villain had a valid point. I guess I never really analyzed the Dark Knight trilogy the same way

Superhero stories are about the individual taking down the bad guy. These criminals are usually evil for the fun of it even though we know most people that commit crime are doing so because of economics. Batman goes even further as a billionaire "cleaning up" the city, which in movies.usually looks how conservatives describe New York. They have a right-wing frame. The collective are usually useless and government is often portrayed as inept at best and corrupt at worst.

The Nolan movies were even more egregious by trying to rip from the headlines of the Bush/Obama eras. The Dark Knight is directly referencing warrantless wiretapping with the tools that Batman uses to bring down the Joker. Morgan Freeman protests on civil liberty grounds, but Batman gives him a password to put in after they beat the Joker which essentially self-destructs the system. It is suggesting that, in extreme situations, breaking civil liberties is okay for the greater good. Of course, our government would never destroy the device and we have seen more and more encroachment on privacy for often flimsy reasons.

That isn't even getting into The Dark Knight Rises, where the billionaire has to stop Occupy Wall Street.

Don't forget, the villains in Tenet turn out to be eco-terrorists.

Yeah. The best stories are about revolutionaries, not defenders of the status quo

It's why Last Airbender knocks Korra out of the water

Wait what? Ozai is so boring compared to Korra's big bads. Am I misreading your post?

“Danielle Brooks, who played Taystee, arguably the show’s emotional anchor toward the end, has said that she was paid less on the final season than the lead child actors made that same year on ‘Stranger Things’”

    Yikes

He was on a bunch of morning shows and stuff because people thought it was cute but he is still doing it even though he doesn't really have any followers or anything.
