That movie Ron Howard made about the Thai cave rescue was really good, even though I think barely anybody watched it.

 

Speaking of Secret Invasion, they killed Aunt Robin in the first episode haha fuck this show

 

The funny thing is, Marvel (and its "Distinguished Competition") has decades of history of utilizing fandom for cheap labor. If they wanted, they could probably get a ton of free labor out of some kinda "animate our credits" contest, lol.

Very gross (but ultimately unsurprising) that they've started officially dabbling in generative AI instead. I just look at this, and those PS2-looking digital "cameos" in that new Flash movie, and the AI-generated manga "by Osamu Tezuka"... and just shudder. Hope these various strikes going on successfully limit some of what these studios can get away with.

 

I give it two years before any Marvel content is just one actor in front of a green screen and all scenery and costars are AI and/or robots. They’re doing such a bad job at pretending they actually care about storytelling or art

 

I actually do agree with the writers room thing. I understand the intention but I think the issue is more when people ask to fill out a room and get denied. Not every show needs six people in the room

 

Yeah. I'm torn on it tbh. I'm all for more people getting access to a job but also feel like solo writing maybe should be allowed, provided it's the creator/head writer requesting it and not the studio trying to pressure them.

 

To me it’s kind of similar (barely similar but I wanted a comparison) to if you told a band they had to work with a producer or that every record needed at least one hired session musician. I’d love to get more work but not because it’s contractually obligated. I think it’s more an issue when showrunners are asking to pad out rooms and being denied

 

From what I can gather the issue is more the mini rooms , I can see how comedy needs more collaboration than drama

Ive been thinking about AI in similarities and opposition to reality TV. The scare was that reality TV would replace scripted TV because it saved money not paying writers etc but it turned out to be very different content and both found a place. Reality TV got rid of writing and just focused on personalities where as AI has no personality and is pure writing.
