I am looking at a list of in development Disney live action remakes.

The remake of Robin Hood seems weird, like are they going to use cgi anthropomorphic animals? If not it is going to indistinguishable from the 1000 other Robin Hood movies the last 30 years. Also Robin Hood had some of the coolest music in Disney animation history, so I'm curious who they get for the songs for this, better not be the Mumford guy.

The Aristocats remake being directed by Questlove. Hercules remake being directed by Guy Ritchie, Sword and the Stone remake being directed by the 28 Weeks Later guy

Also I didn't know the Marc Webb directed Snow White remake next year was co written by Greta Gerwig.

Replacing Late Late Show with an @Midnight revival is actually kind of brilliant.

The space is wide open for actual comedy so yeah it could be pretty cool.

Just thinking on terms of streaming, like I would never sit and watch a late night talk show from start to finish on a streaming service the next day. I will watch new episodes of @midnight in full when they put on Paramount+

In the article when they talk about "cross platform potential" I think that is what they're talking about. Unlike A traditional talk show this is something that can do well on TV, Youtube clips, and streaming services.

@midnight was lame even when twitter was in its prime. The thought of it coming back in the Elon musk era of twitter sounds horrible

I just like good comedians getting a chance to riff on television every week.

Scooping up these directors is starting to feel less and less like trying to get someone cheap and more trying to suppress alternatives to their multiverses.

Besides the money I have no idea why you'd want to direct one of those remakes

  19. I watched Cruella lastnight for the first time, and I have to say... it was actually pretty great. Why doesn't Disney just focus on doing live action spin-offs/origin stories like that rather than just remaking the classics? It lets them keep the familiarities of the characters but lets them create a story that expands the world of the particular movie/story its based on, etc. Just makes a whole lot more sense.

It's really devious. Think of how many potentially great films we have lost from it.

people liked to cite Ryan Coogler as an example of someone who could have used his capital to make legitimate films and that simply has not happened
