I see where this is heading.

 

My friends and I were just talking about how they started splitting books into multiple movies, and now they're doing it with stuff that isn't based on books! Dune part one is based on a book, but Dead Reckoning part one isn't

 

Feels like the hidden gem/sleeper of the year so far. Haven't heard anyone talk about it but seems like something lots of people around here would really dig.

I know there’s a “[laughs]” in that excerpt, but “I want to tell stories, and there’s no more time” is such a sad fucking string of words.

 

The idea that eventually cinema will soldier on without Marty being here anymore is borderline impossible to imagine

 

The thing that seems to be going away after the likes of Scorsese and Spielberg and Tarantino is the director-as-celebrity. People like Ari Aster and the Safdie brothers are doing really well right now but most people wouldn't recognize them in a crowd.
