For those of you who were too young or not paying attention, the writers' strike gave us the awful second season of Friday Night Lights and the first season of Breaking Bad just randomly ending.

Conan was so fun to watch during the strike

I feel like LOST made it work well. I haven’t watched s4 in awhile and I’m sure they cut some storylines and such, but I think it’s a great season.

I haven’t thought about the strike in awhile. I can’t recall other shows during that time.

It also made quantum of solace pretty unwatchable and I love James Bond.

Conan was amazing, but he’s like the last host that could really do that. I can’t see Fallon doing anything but like, singing songs and laughing and clapping and I don’t know what Myers does without his political stuff.

Every late night show is made for YouTube clips now. No one now could do what Conan did.

I’ve always wondered, why was it cool for Conan to do his show at all during the previous strike? Feels like everything should shut down in solidarity.

Nothing was written. He was working to make sure the production crew could still get work/paid. He also paid his writers out of his pocket.

That’s very cool of him, but NBC also got to make money during those shows. Kind of defeats the purpose of the strike.

Every late night show was still operating, even though no host crossed the picket line and hired writers. They all made it clear it was in solidarity and that the money would be used to help pay writers on the picket line.

It brought so much awareness to the strike, running their shows like that

Jimmy Fallon’s show already basically runs without writers. All he does is play dumb little party and song games with the guests

Really worried what the strike is going to do to practically every current show on television. Something I don’t think people are realizing is the last time this happened, we had very few prestige-level shows airing. Imagine what this has the potential to do to shows that are considered to prestige-level now.

of course I 100% support the writers in this scenario and the studios need to stop being such greedy fucks.

You had Man Men, Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Friday Night Lights during that time. Other than Succession what else even compares?
