The Rock is just getting his bag. There are more talented actors out there like Robert DeNiro and Will Smith who have been phoning it in for years (give or take the occasional Irishman). That is more shameless because they could be doing much more interesting things.

at least Robert De Niro and Al Pacino put out like 14 masterpieces between them before (and a couple after) they started phoning it in. Also neither of them has it in their contract that they can't lose fights or cry onscreen

It is actually kind of surprising he left the Fast and the Furious franchise because that was another paycheck to be had.

Obviously I was referring to their post-peak eras. The Rock is very easy to ignore, just don’t watch shit movies. It’s more frustrating to watch talent go to waste, especially when the actors are already rich as hell and can do what they want.

I can't say for sure if The Rock has done crypto, I mean he probably has, so he isn't my most annoying celeb

I can't think of anything DeNiro/Pacino have done as shameless as The Rock acting like Black Adam was the next Citizen Kane. At least the infamous Dunkaccino was partly tongue-in-cheek.

Pacino and De Niro were never getting $20 million a movie though like the rock.

I can't see The Rock taking scale for an indie drama any time soon.

  12. it's not so easy to ignore Dwayne when he's one of the few AAPI actors out there. Anything he does reflects on all of us regardless of how ethnically diverse we are as a whole, and this applies to anyone who's made it big

The Rock is a decent comedic actor. The thought of him doing anything that *isnt* a comedy or big action film sounds very unappealing though

I support the strike, but i still roll my eyes when people making $9000/week for like a fuckin rizzoli and isles reboot crow about how rough it is

What about the people that can’t pay their rent writing for streaming services that cancel their show before it airs?

Oh fer sure its a legit dispute, and however true it is for writers, its even moreso the case for people making $1500/week below the line who don’t enjoy the negotiated terms writers do.

Situations vary, but if they cancel the show before it airs, you’re probably still gonna get paid for the work you did, just like the old days. If you work a mini room and they dont pick it up, you still get paid. I think the bigger issue with streaming rn is dry residuals, which I imagine is the result of a lotta things, but in no small part the glut of content. I may be wrong, but aren’t more writers working now than ever? Its a more diffuse landscape

Responding to streaming was the thrust of the IATSE strike situation, which unless I’m misremembering, WGA (or maybe just WGA west) really dragged their feet on supporting

Was watching that JGL movie The Lookout last night, and it's so distracting that his character's name is Chris Pratt and they say his full name so many times.

Chris Pratt was going to audition for the role too. Great movie.
