AO Scott is one of the best writers on film I’ve ever read. At some point I hope he continues writing in some capacity that I can read.

 

I can't blame him for switching to books. The kind of people who swarm critics for reviews they don't like haven't read a book since high school.

 

Y’know, that Alan Moore guy’s thoughts on the relationship between fandom and fascism… might be right.

 

Fandom has become so incredibly poisonous over the last ten years. A lot of what’s happened can be traced back to Glee. It’s gotten way out of control and no one knows how to fix it. It’s so sad

Given how easy it is to put something on YouTube, I wish there was something like this nowadays. There is Breakfast All Day but they mostly agree and when they do disagree they are too nice to each other about it.

I miss Siskel & Ebert & Roeper. The closest thing I have to that now are the film podcasts I listen too, but their disagreements never get quite to the level of entertaining like these Ebert clips that pop up.

 

Spawn movie is good if you're like ten and it's the year 2000 and you have no knowledge of the source material

 

What S&E had that movie podcasts lack is they weren’t actually friends.

 

Man I loved Siskel and Ebert, still watch clips on YouTube all the time.

 

I see sex scene discourse while I want more (90s) erotic thrillers.
