Has that ever happened before? Using an alternate ending as cannon?

 

The "alternate ending" is the books original ending. The whole moral of the story is lost in the films' ending.

One of the most disappointing film adaptations ever. I had chills reading the book. I groaned watching the movie.

 

I've seen this take on Tiktok "imma watch Flash despite Ezra" and to me it kinda just sounds like "imma play HP despite JKR"

 

I honestly can't believe that flash movie is still getting released

 

Seems they're doing some image rehabilitation for Ezra Miller recently. Not surprised. James Gunn thinks the movie is really great, so they're attempting to save it.

I'm all for a comeback story, but this person did a lot of horrible shit and while it's great they're in recovery, I think their career should be on the back burner for a bit longer. I understand the studio is pressuring to get this film before it's too late. Just a confounding situation all around.

man, that's what terry jones (who died three years ago) had. awful all around

 

Watched this after a rec and I thought this was hilariously bad no offense to anyone who likes it. Just not even close to other films in it's genre. Especially during a year in which the GOAT Goodfellas was released. Great cast but horribly misused. Every action scene looked like it was bad theater. Most of the dialogue was mumbled, and there isn't even a real plot.

 

King of New York is rad as fuck.

I really don't know enough about 20th century Indian history to comment on it, but there have been some rumblings about the right-wing elements in the RRR movie so many people liked.

 

It’s functionally a superhero movie, so to that end by default it isn’t going to have the most progressive politics regardless of the context. British colonists are explicitly supervillains, and any nationalist, anti-colonialist media like that could easily be interpreted as both left and right-wing, so I wouldn’t be shocked if many leftists take that surface-level aspect of it and make it out be some revolutionary socialist movie, as if only leftists could oppose colonization

Then there’s an end credits song/performance where they have these elaborate sets showing some figures from Indian history that I don’t recognize at all, so that probably sends some kind of big signal that non-Indians like myself don’t get. And also there’s apparently some important context around the two people who the main characters are based on, even though the movie is basically a fairy tale imagining of like “what if these two legends met,” idk

Besides those things, imo there’s a reason non-Indians *dont* pick up on any nationalist right-wing elements, because those elements simply aren’t pushed to the forefront at all. It’s a blockbuster action film. You can say the same about Top Gun being a military recruitment ad while *simultaneously* being a very entertaining, vacuous blockbuster that isn’t consciously “trying” to “say something.” It’s also just unbelievably over the top in every single way
