I saw Rogue One at an old theater that didn't have assigned seating on Christmas Day & I remember an employee coming in and saying "Hey we sold every seat, you will HAVE to sit right next to someone, I don't know what to tell you"

I haven’t seen a movie in “primetime” in so long. It’s always like a weekday or Saturday at 11am lol

Yeah I usually go for weekend early or midday if possible. I saw No Way Home at I think 11 AM on a Friday

  4. When I saw Babylon, it was packed except for the front row (small theater, to be fair, but I was surprised). I also typically go at weird times, and all the other big releases I've seen recently have had 15 or fewer people in the theater.

One row behind the handicap row, dead center is my ideal spot, which I assume would be the premium prices in the new AMC model.

I usually go at off times but the theater I go to will still be pretty full at those times. I saw violent night at like 9:00 on a Wednesday and it was 75% full.

If I’m at the local Cinemark without nice recliner seats, my preference is always the row directly behind the wheelchair row. That way you’re guaranteed to be able to throw your feet up on the rail.

Otherwise, it’s pretty whatever, though I generally like not being at the far right or left side.

The most packed showing I've seen in like four years was maybe a dozen people

I pretty much go to the 5 o'clock showings after work on weekdays and they are empty. Either that or the first showings in the morning. I wish more theaters would have brought back those morning showings from the Before Times.

  10. I'm honestly pretty neutral about the whole thing because I have A-List but it would probably make more sense to implement it only for showtimes that can be expected to reach full capacity like Marvel opening weekend

  11. If I go with friends, it's usually a standard evening showtime between 6-8pm. If I'm going solo, 10am or 10pm showtimes are usually the best for avoiding the more annoying moviegoers.

There was talk about that for The Batman I think and I feel like the response was "that's a slippery slope, they may then think it's fine to do that for every movie" and uhhhh yep

If I tried to see a 10pm movie I’d be asleep by 10:15. Actually, I’d probably just not even make it because I fell asleep on the couch at 9:15.

I loved the first two thirds of that movie but hated the last third when it just became a dumb action film

  24. Smartless had Emily on their podcast awhile ago and she talks about the movie. Good interview.

Limon was like " hey what if James Cameron did the opening scene of SVP ? That would be cool " And then made that the first 20 minutes of his movie.
