I don’t “hate” sex scenes but I don’t get these people acting like they love them at all. Basically every sex scene ever is derivative of every other. They’re really not interesting or anything more than a lull in a movie/show.

It's something baked into America's weird moral values. You can slaughter hundreds of people in your movie as long as you don't show the blood and gore and get a PG-13 rating but sexuality and nudity riles people up.

If more sex scenes were like MacGruber then there’d be merit to the argument

I hope the people sitting behind and across from me on the plane yesterday didn’t mind sex scenes, because there sure were a lot of them in Bros.

  15. still weird to me that Jason Bateman and Adam Scott went from Arrested Development and Parks and Rec to Ozark and Severance, respectively. I haven't watched them but they're like big time drama

Bateman has been around for a long time before AD, as a child actor even, with plenty of drama roles. P&R is a mid-career role for Adam Scott too, but he has been mostly known for comedy always. Had a high-profile drama gig with Big Little Lies though

Yeah, that's just what I know them from. I feel the same with Nathan Fillion on Castle and David Boreanaz on Bones, too, it's weird to me that they were on those longer than they ever were with the Whedon shows I know them from

Multiple local theaters are doing a version of Ladies' Night for a screening of the new Magic Mike. I am sure it has its female fans, but its loudest fans are almost all straight men.

Yes but not for something like Mamma Mia or Twilight or Fifty Shades of Grey. Magic Mike is an interesting phenomenon because it markets itself on the sex but it is deeply appreciated for its actual filmmaking craft.

I haven't seen Severence but Bateman is literally just Bateman in Ozark. When thinking of comedic actors in dramatic roles, he doesn't come to mind.

    Ahh right.

Michael Jackson's cultural significance is an interesting case study. I think most people accept that he was a pedophile, but no one seems to mind that his music still plays everywhere. Contrast that with R Kelly, who everyone also knows is awful but his music has mostly been shunned in recent years. Is it because what Jackson did happened after he had put out his best work vs R Kelly doing it while he was still working?
