Read that earlier, love listening to him talk and glad he isn't "retired" anymore. Not that he was dormant since that retirement announcement. His cinematography on Magic Mike XXL was really, really good.

 

I think retirement was just him being understandably frustrated that no studio would fund Beyond The Candelabra , mind boggling that even with those leads they wouldn't make a LGBTQ movie

 

I haven't read that article yet but I remember years ago seeing an interview with him and in it he stated how movies as an art form are basically dead or something like that. He related it to how books had their prime time, and then movies, and said the next major form of storytelling has yet to be discovered but that it could be television or video games, if my memory serves me correctly.
