Titanic has had as much of a critical re-evaluation as the first Avatar film over the last few years or so. All of that late 90's-early 2000's cynicism is gone. I still feel really bad for the friend who is crushed by the smoke stack.

 

At its core it’s a film about class and that’s in every frame. Masterpiece, no apologies

Cameron's left-leaning politics are definitely much more appreciated in the era of the military actively approving scripts for many blockbuster films.

 

The decades-long debate about whether or not Jack could have gotten on the floating door was foreshadowing CinemaSins.

 

Titanic is a great film, but I have no interest watching it in 3D

 

I think my family saw it three times in theaters. I know others went more times than that.

 

3d, huh? What if they released it in 4d? Would it no longer be, what, three hours?

I remember watching a Grace Randolph review once and I thought it was a parody.

 

Usually it is a bad sign when a YouTuber has their face spliced into the video thumbnail, but why does she tilt her head and/or her smile like that? It looks so weird.

 

I am excited to see Titanic in theaters

 

the 3D stuff has me a bit concerned but i'd still like to see it on the big screen regardless

 

I have no desire to watch any movie in 3D

 

They actually did a 3D re-release of Titanic before.

When can we finally bury 3D? It is hard to think of another trend that has been tried so many times despite being widely disliked.

 

Pretty sure Spy Kids 3D was the most fun I had at a 3D movie. Prometheus and even the first Avatar were so rough that I won't bother seeing anything new in 3D, but I'm curious what people who are getting it for the first time this year think.

 

The only movies that should allowed to be in 3D are the avatar movies.

 

plus the harold and kumar christmas movie

 

Cameron, Scorsese, Cuaron, and Godard have all effectively played with 3D so I’m comfortable accepting the technology has value. It just shouldn’t be plastered onto every movie that came out even if they weren’t made for it like what happened in 2009-15 or whatever
