That might be fine depending on the content, but a film or show is deliberately paced and speeding it up is an insult to everyone who worked on it.

Last time that topic came up, I pulled up a couple films I'd seen before and tried watching bits of them at different speeds, for science. Wanna say Mean Girls was one of them? It was... truly a surreal and painful experience, lol. Even more unhinged than watching something with motion smoothing on.

I can't believe how many people don't even notice motion smoothing. It is an unwatchable experience.

  4. yessss it's the worst! i can't stand it and i'm not sure how anyone can watch something with motion smoothing and thinks it looks natural and not be completely distracted by it.

I often watch moives in chunks over a few days, to deflect criticism I liken it to reading chapters in a book

I watch way less movies than I’d like because I hate breaking up a movie

I actually have done this a ton lately because I have a new kid, I'll watch chunks of a movie at night when I wake to feed him, then watch more each time he's up. It's a pretty good system

Or maybe just let people enjoy their entertainment that they paid for in any way they find enjoyable?

Literally no one is suggesting forcing people to watch films at the appropriate length, so it isn't a matter of letting them.

However, you should have respect for the art form you are consuming. Whether it is a book or a song or a film, people worked hard on it and want to evoke certain feelings on it. Watching the film wrong, which is what this is, is not watching it. Even worse, those wrong opinions are going to be spread into the wild which can lead to others choosing to skip the film entirely.

  17. Can Dwayne just disappear already? Haha why does he have to be in every single movie ever made over the last few years?

Coincidentally, the one film series everyone wants him to return to he refuses to due to Vin Diesel.

I try to avoid this because I prefer watching films in one sitting, but I’ve been doing this more recently because it’s just easier to fit in my schedule.
