My impression is that a lot of people didn't like season 2 because they misunderstood the focus of the show. They thought it was about cops and drug dealers in Baltimore, not realizing it was really about how the institutions of a city interlock with each other. I think the reappraisal of season 2 got more positive once people saw the whole picture.

 

I still haven’t watched The Wire or The Sopranos.

I was watching Jurassic Park ‘93 with my kid and he was really thrown off by Samuel L Jackson smoking. It is different growing up as a kid now and seeing smoking haha

 

Stuff like that makes me think of E.T. and the walkie talkies replacing guns and the bit in South Park replacing the guns in more and more absurd situations until you get to the D-Day scene in Saving Private Ryan.

 

As soon as I finish The Wire, I’m doing The Sopranos ha.

Few eps into The Wire S2. Definitely feels like a shift from S1, but I’m still enjoying it.

yeah that episode being the #1 ever makes about as much sense as a teen titans episode lol. wasn’t even the best of its season.
