Apocalypse Now looks like a chore for its length but I honestly can't think of another movie that long that flew by that quickly.

I'm making it a point to include more Brando when I watch more older films. I've always loved him from The Godfather and other performances, but in those two movies he's even better in my opinion.

Apocalypse Now is amazing but I think I like The Conversation the most from the Coppola films I've seen.

You should check out One-Eyed Jacks, the only film he ever directed. Obviously Streetcar Named Desire and Last Tango in Paris as well, but one of my favorite Brando performances is in Reflections in a Golden Eye, which is a real weird experience. It was made by John Huston and with Elizabeth Taylor and Robert Forster. I love how strange and visceral that one is. The Fugitive Kind is great as well, with Sidney Lumet directing. He made Viva Zapata also with Elia Kazan, to go along with Waterfront and Streetcar. The Wild Ones is cool.

Viva Zapata is good but one of those movies where looking back Brando shouldn't have played a Mexican but I thoroughly understand that the conversation about representation is fairly recent

Oh yeah. Brando has been on an unfortunate side of history several times, he played Japanese in the Teahouse of the August Moon and I think there was another instance I can't recall immediately. The times aren't an excuse, wrong is wrong, but he was far from the only one in that era to cross racial casting lines to negative effect. It sucks.

What's the difference in this version?

The biggest change is that there is a lengthy portion where they visit some French colonial types. It is an attempt to add meaning to the depth of Western interference in Asia, but it just screws with the timing of the film.

Pedro Costa, Kleber Mendoca Filho, and Lav Diaz are wild additions. Cool to see Zacharius Kunuk in there, an essential voice in Inuit film making.

Still one of the only Pixar movies I haven't seen! That, along with the Cars trilogy and Monster's Inc 2.

I haven't seen Ratatouille in close to 10 years, but it might be my favorite Pixar movie.

Aren't the Cars movies considered the lowest point of the Pixar filmography? I haven't seen any of their films since Up, but I remember the first Cars being overly formulaic.

The first Cars was considered the lowest point in Pixar's oeuvre by a large margin. Then they decided to make a sequel

The Cars movies are very long commercials for toys.

The original cars is perfect fine. Sure it's the 2nd worst of the original pixar films...but it's still a fine 6/10 type film.

Two more of them well... That's a bit much
