Ir was before social media really took off so you ended up with websites like this. The good old days when you could just dedicate your time to hating one person.

 

Imagine if American filmmakers were held accountable got American foreign policy.

 

Just saw the Batman. I enjoyed it a lot. Groaned at the idea of a three hour runtime but it didn’t overstay its welcome imo

 

Watched the first episode of that new Viceland crime/food doc series Devoured about the Mafia's connection to NYC Pizzerias. Pretty fascinating stuff.

Seinfeld literally did a joke about that scene. Seinfeld did a lot of jokes about some of the most serious scenes in film history. So did The Sinpsons and others.

 

They’re right, it is a silly thing to complain about

 

I know so many "serious" movie scenes from the simpsons lol

 

There is a great joy in seeing something old for the first time and finally understanding a reference.

 

I was just thinking about how weird it is that Professor Frink is a reference to a movie 80% of people who watch the simpsons have never seen

 

50 years? Nuh uh.

 

When I saw it in theaters two weeks ago and Bonasera came on, talking about how he believed in America, I started to cry and I didn't really stop until the wedding scene. Citizen Kane might be the more important film, but The Godfather and its sequel are the greatest films that can reach a film professor and your uncle. Even at 50, it feels so new and fresh and daring. Every time I watch it, part of me thinks that this is the time I see through it and poke holes in its grace and beauty but instead there is just more and more to appreciate.

 

Darren Aronofsky and The Wrestler is the big one. Danny Boyle and the first two acts of 28 Days Later too.
