2017 Summer Indie Movie Preview

 

I want the The Little Hours to be great, but it could be terrible. Looking forward to A Ghost Story. Is The Beguiled (1971) good?

 

I have heard others say it is better than the average blockbuster, but not a comparison to Starship Troopers. How is it similar?

 

It did alright at the box office, just not astounding. I thought they were talking about doing a sequel?

 

I don't really think it's anywhere near similar to what Starship was trying to do, but it's a solid action film

 

Not similar in the satire of Starship, but more in the battle scenes and military setting. Sorry, probably should have explained that better

Also it's one of the last Bill Paxton movies and he was so so great in it.

 

It's a good one tbh

 

Haven't watched Edge of Tomorrow yet, not sure if I want to anymore. I was looking forward to seeing a badass Emily Blunt, though.

 

I ended up finishing season 1 of Rick & Morty in about a day and a half.

 

There's very little television I watch or am interested in these days but Rick and Morty is near the top of the list, with Nathan for You.

When I used to go see movies in theatres, before I moved to a city and was able to go as frequently as I wanted with much more choices, I had a tendency to fall into a honeymoon period with whatever movie I saw. I would be so excited to see a new movie on the big screen that I would tell myself that the movie must be rad. There was no honeymoon period with World War Z though. There wasn't even a marriage. That one was no good

 

Rachel Getting Married was terribly underrated when it came out. It was somewhat formulaic, but there were a couple of really touching scenes where Demme just let the camera roll and we saw people just enjoying each other's company. He will be missed.

Lol, it would be awesome if they pulled a Wet Hot American Summer and had it be a prequel and just pretended like nothing was off.

 

The article hints that maybe he faked his death, lol. I'd hate that for most shows but it's almost fitting for Roseanne.
