It’s weird that MTV didn’t adapt to streaming and/or a younger demographic these past few years. FX somehow managed to do it right while maintaining a presence on cable..most of the shit that MTV should be producing is the stuff you see on Netflix.

It is so funny how Austin Powers nostalgia has developed. The sequels have so many dated and embarrassing moments but the original is still so good.

Andrew Dominik's career has been so strange. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford was very popular with a certain niche but Killing Them Softly was such a bad movie. It was ugly in a way other films about deplorable people just aren't.

 

The only female character being a sex worker was beyond parody

 

hes some good work on tv and that nick cave doc but yeah it’s very puzzling.

 

It is Netflix's fault for thinking they were going to get an Oscar movie from Andrew Dominik. He was famously difficult during the Jesse James editing process and made a glacially slow film that was almost three hours long. His original cut was over four hours.

 

well, that movie should have been more in the oscars convo than it was. it just came out in a historically strong year. it isn’t difficult to see it pushing out a few of the films from the following year.

Pretty incredible when you consider that most superhero movies are Marvel movies, of which he's made two (though they are the two more interesting ones).
