The first episode of The West Wing was a rough watch. Horribly dated and impossibly corny. Does it get better or is it not actually a good show?

It's taken longer than I thought it would to make an animated Willy Wonka adaptation. Don't know what my boys T&J are doing there but I'll take it

its probably one of my top 2 or 3 favorite show of all time so I'm pretty biased, but yes it does.

Ólafur Arnalds Broadchurch score puts that show on a different level.

The Truffaut version from the 60s is quite good.

I made it through the second episode of The West Wing. I am coasting on faith alone.

  12. Apparently they made a Wizard of Oz adaptation with Tom & Jerry as well.

The Street Fighter movie is one of the most incompetently made films I have ever seen. It is hard to believe that so many executive types would sign off on releasing it.

I'd argue for a few like Silent Hill and the first Resident Evil. I'm holding out hope for Rampage actually lol.

I knew what I was getting into, but I recently started playing Street Fighter II and figured it would be worth a try. I know less about the characters now because of how incoherent the movie was.

The West Wing has these characters go on these impossibly verbose monologues that indicate that they are all experts on history and culture, but the Chief of Staff just referred to the President conquering the world like Charlemagne. As far as empires, Charlemagne is not Napoleon or Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar. It was a really weird reference.

Just watched Requiem for a Dream. I wonder why Marlon Wayans didn't do more work beyond the comedic stuff. He was just as strong as the rest of the cast

Wakefield looks like it could be super sappy but it probably has a great performance from Cranston.

Annie Hall came out 40 years ago today

We're getting closer to the day when people will be like "Annie Hall won best picture instead of Star Wars 40 years ago today."

That isn't really much of a matchup. Annie Hall is one of the great romantic comedies of all time. It arguably invented a genre that did not exist before. Star Wars is a fun but corny children's action film.

I've only seen each film once, but I was far more impressed with Annie Hall's innovation than I was Star Wars'. Of course, I didn't see either movie in 1977 so what do I know

  25. I mean, Star Wars inspired countless films that came after it and permeated pop culture beyond just the sci-fi genre. It's a cultural landmark for sure. I wouldn't reduce it to simply a corny children's action film.
