My co worker was in Master In Commander then his scene was cut from the movie haha

 

The New Atheists have the worst taste in art.

 

Master and Commander is an awesome movie. But I also have a soft spot for old timey sailing movies.

 

I’ve had Master and Commander on my watchlist for a few months now but haven’t actually sat down to start it yet. Sounds like I need to finally actually make it happen.

 

Most perplexing cinephile fandoms:

1. Vulgar auteurism
2. Moneyball
3. Master and Commander
4. Speed Racer
5. Tony Scott

 

Moneyball and some tony Scott are good

 

I’m gonna say fuck that entire list, all of those things are good.

 

Only seen Moneyball (and I guess a few Tony Scott movies) from that list. Moneyball is great.

 

He wears sandals 24/7. Don’t listen to him.

 

I genuinely thought master and commander was one of those movies like 5 people have seen, and they are all in this thread and in my Twitter feed, I know Peter Weir rules no judgment

 

I don't think Master and Commander is a perfect movie, Weir has made better, but I enjoy so much about it. On a podcast awhile back Shea Serrano and Bill Simmons were aghast when Chris Ryan said its quality was close if not equal to Gladiator.

 

In grade school one of my friends had a birthday party and he was one of the first people I knew who had a big tv and a dvd player. We played the Gladiator scene where he cuts the dude’s head off a bunch of times in a row.

later that year we put the Final Destination disc into his computer and found the script and printed out a scene that had a bunch of “fucks” in it and took turns reading it in his laundry room
