I don't think any of the seasons prior to Carrell leaving are bad. I also don't think season 9 is bad. Season 8 is bad but it also has Robert California so it's also pretty good in that way lol

 

But I also think The Office as a whole is way overhyped. It was a good show, often a great show, but it doesn't deserve the excessive adoration it gets.

The show was at its funniest when it stayed closer to the original model, which was about how awful Michael was. The basketball episode and the diversity training are still really good.

Gabe and Erin were solid additions to the cast, however

 

just about every episode in seasons 2-4 are gold

Any show that has more than like 3 and a half seasons of material is a rarity

Eh idk if that take is correct considering the movie was basically Katzenberg trying to will all of those bad tendencies into existence. He wasn't able to do it at Disney so he went over to Dreamworks and did it there instead. The industry drew bad lessons from Shrek because Shrek was teaching bad lessons.

 

The Office was absolutely a great show, jesus christ this website sometimes

 

Andy was fine the first couple seasons he was on. Giving him more screen time was the problem. That's why Creed rocks -- he never overstays his welcome.

I like 1-4, 5-8 are whatever, and Season 9 I surprisingly enjoyed.

 

Also I cannot believe how many days of Shrek discourse there has been (not here specifically). Like, who gives a shit lol it's a kids movie, social media is so joyless sometimes.

 

Hello yes I am here sorry for the delay, this is correct.

 

The Office (US) is a really great three season show if it ended with the season 3 finale. It’s really spotty to downright horrible the rest of the way.

 

Jim and Pam getting together, plus Ryan getting the promotion, is as good an ending as any.

 

At the end of season three it should have gone like this: Jim gets with Pam, Toby fucks off to Costa Rica as a result, and Michael breaks up with Jan once he realizes how crazy she is after the blow up in NY. Final shot is new HR person Holly making a joke that makes Michael laugh. End the show there and you have a solid three seasons of television with a satisfying ending.

Or you can just watch the British Office.
