Somebody isn't an all star

 

For those of you that don't know, this all started when Scott Tobias posted a retrospective of Shrek.

 

I am more likely to associate that song with Mystery Men due to the music video

 

Rewatched it recently and I laughed. What’s weird is that I feel like it’s really popped off with the generation after me who were probably too young to see it in theaters but watched it a lot on dvd.

 

High school students are way more nostalgic for Shrek than any Pixar movie other than maybe Finding Nemo.

It’s a fun movie with a great voice cast. Not everything has to be high art to be enjoyable or valuable

 

I have never watched an entire Shrek movie, but the clips and pieces I have seen were never interesting, especially when you compare it to the Pixar films that were coming out around that time. It feels like an aggressively 90's film.

 

If you were a ten-year-old non-robot when it came out, like I was, it was the greatest thing ever.

I would never watch it as an adult, there's no way it's aged well at all.

 

Shrek is good

Shrek is weird because it's just Eddie Murphy and Mike Meyers riffing and like half of it isn't for children, like oh that's why Donkey is singing Try A Little Tenderness

I still liked it last year

 

Shrek is even better to watch as an adult because there are so many hidden gems that went over our heads as kids.

 

I really hope someone makes a Mank-like film about the making of Shrek

 

I wonder if Shrek would have been less or more successful if Chris Farley had finished it before he passed away.

 

Katzenberg doesn't need a bigger ego lol, it's always amazing when someone is such an asshole that they have a reputation for being an asshole in hollywood

 

Just center it on Cameron Diaz and it all builds up to that clip of her saying the scene where the dragon breathes fire at the castle “looks so realistic”

 

would be better than actual mank.
