I only just learned about Paramount+ yesterday.

The problem for Paramount+ (and every other streamer)? Everyone already has Netflix.

I wonder to what extent these companies are just hurting each other's profitability in the long run. This is the supposed efficiency of capitalism.

 

The only things I'm interested on Paramount are the old Nickelodeon cartoons, the trashy MTV stuff, the new Behind the Music series (maybe, depending on who's on it), and RuPaul. But all these things may not be enough to justify keeping it for a second month... haha. We'll see... But really, none of their announcements of reboots/revivals/etc got me very excited.

 

That is the kind of thing the article touched on. A lot of the stuff that people would be marginally interested in might be watched on regular TV while channel surfing or on a streaming service you already pay for, but when people have to start subscribing to additional services it becomes less likely. Disney can do it because they have so many movies and shows to entice people, but you can only stretch people so thin, especially since everyone knows that they forget to cancel sometimes and end up paying more than they intended.
