The Counselor is good, at least.

I have always found him highly overrated. Alien and Blade Runner are unquestionable, but the rest of his work is pretty spotty. Prometheus showed that he did not even understand what was so powerful about the original Alien.

Going to try to watch The Love Witch and Jackie today. Still need to see Fences as well.

Yeah those are so ridiculously good. Gladiators pretty good too. I still cannot believe Prometheus whenever i think about it and youre absolutely right. It's probably one of the worst big budget movies of all time. I think at some point soon people are gonna look back on the 'mid 2010s blockbusters' and especially scratch their heads at the appallingly poor scripts that made it through quality control and to the big screen. I'm talking about Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises, and Interstellar. They don't even function on a basic level.

The best parts of Interstellar (a movie wherein Nolan tries his hand at aping various directors) are when he apes Spielberg, like in the scene where Coop watches the playback of all the years he's missed. But that only makes me wish that Spielberg actually got to direct it like he was supposedly going to.

Time certainly has not been kind to those films. When The Dark Knight Rises came out, zealots were so angry if someone criticized it. It ended up being the beginning of the end of people's inability to critique his work.

@popdisaster00 who was the guy who killed himself in the first episode of Rectify? Every time I try to use a wiki I end up accidentally reading the whole series plot.

His name is George and he was a friend of Daniel's in high school who may or may not have been involved with the death of Hannah

His death plays a huge part in the whole series.

I finished the first season. It took me that long to figure out the relationship, although I still don't know what Johnny from Deadwood is doing there.

Each season of Rectify is great, but it really shines in S2

Theatres will never die. I'm going to watch Wrestlemania at my local Cineplex this year for the first time. I'm not even that into wrestling, but there's something about that communal experience with strangers that transcends convenience

I hate watching movies on Netflix, I get distracted and browse the internet and don't pay attention to the movie, I much prefer watching things in theaters

There is nothing like the theater, assuming a good audience, but I go less and less each year as the blockbusters start taking over half of all the screens at any given time. The event movies like that are the ones that will always be in theaters, while smaller films will keep getting harder to see in theaters.

I thought moving to the city would allow me to see all kinds of indie films in theatres, but there are still so many that don't seem to come here. That being said, on Saturday the independent theatre is showing three hours of morning cartoons and offering bottomless cereal so I can't complain too much

If I ever start feeling the urge to use my phone when I'm watching something at home, I just figure it means I'm not really in the mood to watch a movie and so I turn it off

It's like it was made for you! Any odd/different cereal choices?

That's actually a good rule to have

  21. I'm pretty sure all movies come to LA. Like, the LA part of LA. I live close to LA, though. I never want to see anything enough to drive out. I mostly see blockbusters with my friends.

I do love the theater experience but I don't ever go anymore because I usually can't stand the crowds and have a small child.

    Live the drive in though

I've never been before, so I have no idea what they're going to be offering. I would hope it's stuff that turns the milk blue, at least. If I'm going to be wearing my pajamas and watching Scooby and the gang run in and out of doorways for three hours, I don't want to be eating Corn Flakes like a god damn hamster.

I'll probably bring a couple boxes of Reese Puffs and French Toast Crunch just in case they let me down

I'm so greatful to have so many good rep cinemas around. Nothing beats seeing a film in theatres, especially an old film on celluloid.
