Intolerable Cruelty is better than Burn After Reading.

 

Intolerable cruelty is just boring. I don’t love burn after reading but I find it a lot more interesting.

 

They’re both comedies and I don’t find Burn After Reading funny.

 

Burn After Reading is fantastic. Similar to Big Lebowski, it’s like a Pynchon novel in how its characters wish so desperately for there to be some greater significance to their lives, that there is a deterministic narrative and they are the universe’s protagonists. All for the freak absurdity of the real world to come crashing down on them

I watched Den of Thieves today and it is a better Heat rip-off than it has any right to be. When I realized they were about to have a massive shootout in the middle of bumper-to-bumper traffic? Wild

 

It really is something that the Coen brothers did No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading, A Serious Man, and True Grit in four consecutive years. That is a really strong standard of excellence in such a short period of time, all such different films.

 

Burn After Reading and Hail Caesar are perfect movies

Tatum dance sequence alone makes it top half of the filmography

 

Nathan's love of Channing Tatum is one of the most interesting recurring subplots in this forum.

 

Hail Caesar is one of the rare films that could have used an extra ~30min tbh

 

Everyone should love Channing Tatum

 

Shithouse is great. More people should watch it.

 

Both Tatum and McConaughey were involved in mostly just a bunch of forgettable schlock in the 00s, just to have a very impressive career turn and become critical darlings in some sense or another. Magic Mike was a pivotal moment for them, in the same way.

 

I honestly didn’t think you would like True Grit. Never seen the original, but I love that movie.

 

Tatum is such a glorious weirdo

 

Why wouldn't I like it? The arguments between Cogburn and Laboeuf alone are worth it.
