Not bad, but he’s overdone it a few times. Seems like only a few actors can reign him in and that’s when he’s at his best. Very stoked for him and the Coens

 

Yeah he's in plenty of bad movies but he's usually good in everything

I saw 75 percent of the new Spiderman out of the corner of my eye while I played chess with a student. I was surprised they tried to explain the whole problem with half of the population reappearing after five years. Why try to clear up inconsistencies when people are going to hand you billions of dollars anyway?

 

wasn’t denzel bad in that one film from the guy who directed nightcrawler

 

roman j israel? no. he was very good in it. it’s just a bad movie.

 

How bad is Virtuosity? Seems like that could be one he’s bad in.

Are FFC’s later films even bad or is it just that nobody cares about them? The only post-1980 one I’ve seen is Outsiders which was fine. Excluding the classic that is Jack, of course

 

Jack is every bit as bad as the reputation suggests. Tetro was good though.

 

I read a blurb that said Rick Moranis was originally supposed to play Phil in City Slickers, which is weird to imagine now, though at the same time I could see him doing it pretty easily

 

Also the most famous Denzel gif is, I'm rpetty sure, from a movie pretty much everyone I know forgets exists.

 

It is a cliche to say an older movie predicted our current politics, but I feel that movies like Burn After Reading and shows like Veep do a better job portraying our political system than any serious drama.

Might need to re-watch it cause it was pretty firmly bottom tier Coen for me
