I mean I love Nolan but I'd probably have like one of his films in my top 100. Maybe I'm underestimating how much people like him.

 

Most times his name is mentioned in any thread in a positive way it is immediately followed by how overrated he is. I’d say this site likes him the same as the general public

 

I think the general public likes him a lot too. He has 4 in IMDb’s top 50 of the 250

 

people do the immediate “he’s overrated!” thing for tarantino and every other big filmmaker on this website. there are just more people that overly praise nolan here than pretty much any other site i go on

 

I rarely if ever see him over praised here. It's usually like how it went here

 

it’s less people saying “nolan is the best living director” outright and more dumbass shit like saying “chris nolan should direct a 2001 reboot,” which might be worse. stop comparing him to kubrick.

 

Oh god. 2001 reboot is offensive enough. I dont care who they think should direct it.

 

The Tenet thread seems a bit more thoughtful than usual Nolan threads so maybe it’s gotten better, but when I tried to criticize the Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar back on AP it was received like I was just a hater of something akin to Citizen Kane

 

If MacGruber isn’t in the top 10 the list is invalid.

my first movie of 2021 was a certain version of blackhat. i'm very late to the whole "how did people NOT like this" deal, but at least now i've seen every major mann movie

 

Shithouse was really good. I think it should have ended about 10 minutes earlier than it did but pretty impressive still.
